• Cabinet Mode for TPA via Arcooda Software

FarSight has been working on custom software with Arcooda, makers of video pinball cabinets. This is the cabinet mode many have been clamoring for, but it's no mere camera angle port. Unfortunately the announcement of the loss of the WMS license has put a huge kink in Arcooda's plans, mainly that the entirety of the TPA catalog wasn't finished in time as well as the fact there's the very shortened window this will be available until.

Visit https://www.arcoodapinballarcade.com/ for complete details and purchasing.

76 tables have been given the cabinet mode treatment, that includes backglass and DMD functionality. New lighting and graphical tweaks also are featured, as well as taking advantage of the ability to have solenoids and shakers function in a cabinet.

The good news is that Arcooda is no longer making this exclusive to their cabinet. You can buy the standalone, offline version of the software for play on any cabinet. If you buy the Arcooda Cabinet version, you also get touch screen functionality, digital tilt, and perhaps the coolest feature of all, 3D without glasses when used with a Kinect camera for head tracking.

The bad news is this is only available until June 30th, and it doesn't come cheap. If you already own the Steam version of the game, you'll only be paying for the Arcooda key. I believe this will be $149. You can also purchase the offline Pro Mode version that includes the entirety of TPA plus the Arcooda key for $499, for those that haven't purchased any of the game yet. Advantage here is it doesn't require a FarSight login. I'm not 100% on these prices as I can't verify what I heard, check with Arcooda first.

      Hey guys.

We just recorded our latest podcast today with Mike Lindsey of FarSight, and we talked a lot about the Arcooda cabinet since he's actually had hands on with it. It'll be available to listen to in a few days, but I wanted to come now what the machine is currently running on since that was a question. It's an i5 processor and a GTX 970 card, but keep in mind this is a prototype cab they've had in the office for a year now. At least that gives you an idea of the specs. He said it's built like a tank and is the full size of a regular machine. I'm going to do my best to travel up to Big Bear and get some hands on time myself, but it probably won't be until the 2nd week of June.

Anyway, wanted to give you all the heads up. Mike actually was with us for the entire podcast session, so lots was said. Stay tuned.

      Arcoodia Facebook:
Arcooda Pinball Arcade Steam unlock is slightly delayed and will be available on 1st June. We are working together with FarSight to add balance requests (such as 2 monitor support) into a new version build and current testing is underway.

I guess another day or two isn't bad. Two screen support is a must for me so rather they get it tested and right

Same here ... I will be running it on a two monitor cab as well ...

Here’s hoping they make the June 1st date!

BTW, if I like what I see I certainly may consider the full $500 offline version — or even the three monitor Arcoodia cabinet!

But this will apparently be our only exposure to any iteration of what has been developed until the June 30th deadlne (which is totally bizarre)!

I am sort of surprised they didn't offer to let those who purchased the key help beta test it. Seems like the more people who are looking at it the quicker they can get things resolved before they hit the June 30th deadline. I am sure there are people on the fence waiting for the Steam buyers to give an all clear that it works. Being out 150.00 bucks is one things. I would be very leary of plunking down 500.00

No..., I forgot that 31st day wedged in-between the 30th and the 1st
I mistakenly thought it was June 1st already in Mayfield, and they would have to wait for Farsight (later tonight)
But ~ it's actually May 31st in Mayfield, and Farsight has an extra day.

Don't know if you guys saw this on Twitter, but Arcooda posted a pic that might answer how the cabinet version is integrated into TPA...

I did see that, I like the fact that it looks like it is a system wide dmd location which means dmdext should work great for those of us with a real dmd. Hopefully freezy just adds direct support like TPA but since it can screen capture it should be simple to get functioning.

That Cabinet configuration TAB looks *great*!
Looking at that it should be relatively easy to get this running on my Cab!

*Really* can’t wait until June 1st now!!

I saw the Cabinet configuration TAB as well Chris. I am stoked. It does look like it should be a breeze to set up, especially for how I am using it. I don't have a cabinet built yet. Hope to some day. I just want to be able to play in real TATE mode with the ability to use a second monitor for the backglass and DMD. Having an active backglass will be pretty sweet. I believe the TAB confirms that a different version of each table will download just as it does with the DX9 and DX11 versions. It really would have to considering they performed graphical/shading/lighting improvements to the tables and created new camera angles.

Just received my Steam key. Arcooda confirmed activation of cabinet mode will take place on Friday. I will be out of town on Friday however so I will have to wait until Sunday to give it a spin. Super excited.
