• Cabinet Mode for TPA via Arcooda Software

FarSight has been working on custom software with Arcooda, makers of video pinball cabinets. This is the cabinet mode many have been clamoring for, but it's no mere camera angle port. Unfortunately the announcement of the loss of the WMS license has put a huge kink in Arcooda's plans, mainly that the entirety of the TPA catalog wasn't finished in time as well as the fact there's the very shortened window this will be available until.

Visit https://www.arcoodapinballarcade.com/ for complete details and purchasing.

76 tables have been given the cabinet mode treatment, that includes backglass and DMD functionality. New lighting and graphical tweaks also are featured, as well as taking advantage of the ability to have solenoids and shakers function in a cabinet.

The good news is that Arcooda is no longer making this exclusive to their cabinet. You can buy the standalone, offline version of the software for play on any cabinet. If you buy the Arcooda Cabinet version, you also get touch screen functionality, digital tilt, and perhaps the coolest feature of all, 3D without glasses when used with a Kinect camera for head tracking.

The bad news is this is only available until June 30th, and it doesn't come cheap. If you already own the Steam version of the game, you'll only be paying for the Arcooda key. I believe this will be $149. You can also purchase the offline Pro Mode version that includes the entirety of TPA plus the Arcooda key for $499, for those that haven't purchased any of the game yet. Advantage here is it doesn't require a FarSight login. I'm not 100% on these prices as I can't verify what I heard, check with Arcooda first.

Thanks for the response. I figured as much, but it somehow makes me feel more confident in the product knowing that Farsight is handling the actual software development. I assume that there would have never been a need for a feature stripped steam version had the WMS issues not come up.

In any case....I will pony up!

      Hi Chris,
Am I correct in thinking that the Steam key will download completely different versions of the tables in the TPA app just as is done with the DX9 and DX11 versions. So basically I will need another 4 to 5 gigabytes of storage space correct?

In for a penny, in for a pound right? Shame Farsight just didn't add this support ages ago.

One other quick question. Is pro version required or will standard version work? For some reason, I purchased the standard version for season 4. The other 6 are pro seasons

I don't believe Pro Mode is required at all. The only reason Arcooda is selling their package that way is so they don't have to deal with 2 SKUs.

It has already been confirmed by Arcooda that the Steam Key will work with standard or pro Steam tables.

I quickly got pinball wicked working on my pindmd3 so this should not be any different
So ive checked out pinball wicked, does it have portrait mode for the playfield? I also have a cabinet that will be here soon with pindmdv3 and would like to add as many different pinball sims as I can to it. Oh and to keep it on topic I purchased the $149 version of steam arcooda. Im also wondering if the $149 dollar version will make you go online everytime to check for your arcooda key? As it stands I can play pinball arcade offline as with most steam games.

Yeah the 149 version is tied to steam/Pinball arcade. The 499 version is offline.

Also curious about wicked pinball on a cab. Haven't bought it yet because I'm unsure if it's planned/possible.

I think they still intend to do a full cabinet mode treatment to it but what I have running looks and runs great on my cabinet. It does run in portrait mode and the camera angles allow for what I consider a cabinet mode view.

It took me a little trial and error to get the Black Flaggers DMD displaying perfectly on my PinDMDV3. Once I figured out the screen positions I got it dialed in though. It integrated extremely well in PinballX and I have table video, wheel and a backglass for it. It doesn't have native backglass support but the one I have set in PinballX stays displayed so it really looks good.

I enjoy the table and I am hoping they release many more

I am awaiting the cabinet specs and prices, have to wait until jun 8.
I don't mind spending some serious money on a good cabinet. But i have lots of questions...

      - How much will it cost?
      - What are the specs? what kind of PC/Motherboard is installed CPU / GPU memory etc. Does it have SSD / M2 or HD ? Expansion slots? Can i install an extra SSD/HD?
      - OS? Window 7 or 10 (pro or Home edition?)
      - Can i install other software? Frontend + Emulators Like Mame / Future pinball?
      - What display does it have 42" TV? / monitor? (input lag?)
I used to have a TV without game mode... and that sucks for pinball arcade... now i play on a 2014 Sony Bravia KDL-55W955B which is great !!

No keys went out yet. I'll be posting my impressions when I get my hands on it. I'm kind of hoping it's a separate option like dx9 dx11 arcooda so we can still use the noex mod.

I agree....being able to keep the mod running would be great. Sorcerer, Fathom, and WCS are tables I really wish came earlier and were included. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

On a side note, I wonder if there is any chance down the line that Arcooda/FS would consider at least making the head tracking 3D available to the general public for purchase? They would need to strip out the security checking, but I would think that would be considered base code changes and not table changes. It maybe a way to make up for some of the lost revenue that the WMS pullout will result in. I know I would pay a fair amount for it in a heartbeat!
