• Cabinet Mode for TPA via Arcooda Software

FarSight has been working on custom software with Arcooda, makers of video pinball cabinets. This is the cabinet mode many have been clamoring for, but it's no mere camera angle port. Unfortunately the announcement of the loss of the WMS license has put a huge kink in Arcooda's plans, mainly that the entirety of the TPA catalog wasn't finished in time as well as the fact there's the very shortened window this will be available until.

Visit https://www.arcoodapinballarcade.com/ for complete details and purchasing.

76 tables have been given the cabinet mode treatment, that includes backglass and DMD functionality. New lighting and graphical tweaks also are featured, as well as taking advantage of the ability to have solenoids and shakers function in a cabinet.

The good news is that Arcooda is no longer making this exclusive to their cabinet. You can buy the standalone, offline version of the software for play on any cabinet. If you buy the Arcooda Cabinet version, you also get touch screen functionality, digital tilt, and perhaps the coolest feature of all, 3D without glasses when used with a Kinect camera for head tracking.

The bad news is this is only available until June 30th, and it doesn't come cheap. If you already own the Steam version of the game, you'll only be paying for the Arcooda key. I believe this will be $149. You can also purchase the offline Pro Mode version that includes the entirety of TPA plus the Arcooda key for $499, for those that haven't purchased any of the game yet. Advantage here is it doesn't require a FarSight login. I'm not 100% on these prices as I can't verify what I heard, check with Arcooda first.

The DX9 iteration of TPA also launches just fine.
Ahh, ok But what does windows have identified for your displays? Can you post a pic of your windows display settings with the monitors identified? It is not necessarily the same as what the Nvidia control panel is indicating. I have a feeling this is where the problem is.

      Here ya’ go:

It’s setup exactly the same way:
      https://www.flickr.com/gp/159013504@N08/16667C

BTW, it’s very consistent at this point:
      * TPA Cabinet version always launches properly.
      * TPA DX9 version always launches properly.
      * TPA DX11 version always launches in the top monitor.

      “Weird, Wild, Stuff!”

Alright then (scratching head). So I went back and forth a few times connecting my primary monitor to different GPU ports and thought I had a repeatable scenario but at this point I've got my system in a state where this dx11 launch issue is affecting me consistently now too (oh well... broke my system for the greater good I guess - hopefully Farsight has a clue what's going). This is definitely a bug related to the monitor that the DX11 version chooses since I was able to get it working after the problem surfaced by playing with monitors ports (and reboots). As a side note, I can get the DX9 version to do the same thing by changing the adapter setting in the DX9 tab. I also noticed that this adapter setting sometimes thinks my secondary monitor is "primary" which is not correct which is what I think is happening with the DX11 startup also. The DX11 version does not have a control for this so whatever mechanism it uses to decide what monitor the "primary" monitor is does not work consistently. Over to Farsight at this point I think.

I very much suspect that we're never going to see the back catalog of Bally/Williams EVER available for back catalog digitally again - for multiple reasons:

      1. Rights are now held by a gambling technology company, which stands to make exponentially more money by using the IP for pinball gambling, which I suspect will be a new thing in gambling soon (kind of like a digital slot machine, which comes down to chance but gives the illusion of skill.

      2. There is a market barrier disadvantage for a new company to invest the costs into developing tables that were already created digitally. The potential consumers is drastically less, given that many would already own the original table in some form - even if half were willing to rebuy, it would make it far more difficult to turn a profit.

      3. I think what's going to happen will be VERY similar to the GIT Corp complete X-Men and Spider-Man comic DVD's which came out before iPad/digital comic subscriptions. Many of Marvel's popular titles complete back catalogues were released on DVD for digital reading in perpetuity. I bought the X-men one for my brother for $49. The Spiderman disk is now $399.99!: https://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spide.../dp/B000HKIM7Q

Well I finally got this to work. I ended up doing a full uninstall of steam and all games and reinstall of TPA only combined with suggestions from Rob at Farsight. Worked on the first try. I also want to say that Rob at Farsight was GREAT! His communications over the last couple of days went above and beyond! Farsight needs to give him a raise!
